Journey to Sandakan [Part Two] - Sabah Experience

A bowl of Hot and Yummy breakfast would be the best to kickstart another page of our journey. A lovely breakfast session at 6AM in the morning @ Jalan Leila morning market, make us feel full and fresh even in the very early morning! We were surprise to see people take their breakfast 6AM in the morning and the crowd was already in the market. Ordered 4 different bowls of noodles to share among us, never miss the 猪皮鱼蛋, and 皮蛋水饺 from Sandakan! All of these only cost us RM16++ including Nescafe, Coffee, and Milo for everyone of us, cheap!? No, i should say Kota Kinabalu is way too pricey, overpriced!

The streets in Sandakan still remain the original cultural atmosphere, the old building, old shops, and the local residents. Hanging around in the local supermarket is fun. We saw there were more employees than the customers. And we also saw the workers eating breakfast at the back of the shelf, you don't see such scene, or you're not allow to do so in Giant, Tesco, or major supermarket here! The average wage in Sandakan is very low, but people seem to be very content with what they have, you don't see only boring face like robot working in routine.

How beautiful is this old street of Sandakan?

The old town of Sandakan is small, you can easily access to Sandakan central market, jetty, city bus terminal, and hotels. The buildings have it's own history already, as well as the people there. Almost every shop operate it's business more than a decade now, there is very few new shops opening here, except for the Harbour Mall, which has Mc Donald! If you enjoy walking in a peaceful city, Sandakan will be a not-bad-choice, enjoy a cup of coffee in a local coffee house and view the busy pedestrian across the streets, and shops. The rhythm is relaxing, you don't have to rush to get your thing done here. Everything will be alright for them, and everything will be OK!

Have you been to Sandakan? Tell me how do you feel about this city! Do u have any tips to share when traveling to Sandakan? Or Any suggestion for an unique itinerary? Comment Below!
