What is Gaya Market?
Gaya Street, formerly known as Bond Street has been the centre of business for over a hundred years. It's a long-stretch typical Malaysian bazaar selling various product ranged from souvenir, fresh food, Herbs, Potted-flower, Antique, vegetables, pets, and delicious Sabah food and much much more!!

Where is Gaya Market?
As you can see from the name, the happenings took place at Gaya Street, right in the heart of Kota Kinabalu. The street, which is parallel to Jalan Pantai  is partially paved and the entrance is marked with a very Chinatown-ish looking arch, at Dataran Desoka.
Banks everywhere! – Jalan Pantai and Gaya Street are in the middle of Kota Kinabalu busiest business district, so banks and financial institutions are common sights. The Bazaar begin from Mandarin Hotel to Old Town White Coffee.

From point A to B is the heart of Gaya street Sunday Market, it is a 2 way route, you can go and forth and visit different stalls! This place is especially design for tourists, where you can find plenty of interesting domestic made product.

When is it happening?
Rain or Shine, the market will happen every Sunday! The vendors begin operate business as early as 5.30AM!! And it normally last until 1/2PM.

How to go there?
If you’re staying in the backpacker dorms at city centre, distance to Gaya Street is only a few minutes short walk away. If you’re staying outside the city, catch a public transportation to city centre. Most buses and mini buses will lead you straight to city centre. If you’re driving, it’s advisable for you to come early; parking spaces are super limited!

Despite it is a lazy Sunday Morning stroll, with good panoramic view and vast selections of things to buy along the way, It is also a perfect place for street photography. The pictures and words alone will never be sufficient to explain the uniqueness of this place, you have to see it and experience yourself. If you ever have a chance to visit to Kota Kinabalu, definitely design your itinerary to come to this Sunday market, It might be overcrowded, it might be hot, but it will definitely worth it!

Today was another rainy day as the rest of the week, woken up by Liyi to have lunch together. Boring with Chicken Rice, Fried Rice, we decided to have some noodles @ 兴旺板面 located at Damai. I still remember Pan Mee is one of my favorite food in during my childhood. Whenever someone brings me to food court, i will order this. The chewiness of the flat noodle in your mouth makes me feel the satisfaction. Adding in fried onion, fried anchovies, and shredded pork, brings the combination of texture and taste.

This restaurant is always busy with customers. It have a very systematic ordering methods, you will have to order your food at the cashier, then they will pass you a number, then the food will serve shortly. Similar to 富源, besides you don't have to worry about your number, there will be someone to serve you. Chillies and Garlic are readily made at a corner, as well as the chopsticks and spoon.

Food served within 10minutes, comes with Wanton (云吞), shredded pork (肉碎), and an egg. I would say that the flavor is more to sweetness, compare to Klang's, is overall richer in taste. The best damn thing about a good Noodle is they have to serve boiling hot, but when this was served, its not hot enough IMHO. Overall, i still enjoy my noodle here, because they have free flow of Chillies & Garlic, just have to take it yourself.

We had some noodles for our dinner as well. We had this Hamen (虾面)@ 大利茶餐室 located at Gaya Street. Just across Agro Bank. I'll strongly recommend people to visit this place as they really serve authentic Penang food, such as this. The Wan Tan Ho (滑蛋河)is very delicious too. But we were a little bit disappointed with the Fried Kuey Teow (炒粿条). Taste not that great, but better than many local hawker stall stating 正宗槟城炒粿条, the taste of the chilly paste (Sambal), is a plus to all their food. Big thumbs up.

If the photo of the food didn't appear to bring appetite to you, i apologize. Please bear with me, i'm in the process of learning food photography by myself. Constructive advise will be highly appreciate.
